This should be of interest to the ALTs out there, especially those that are working with elementary school pupils. A survey conducted by Eiken (the testing agency) of elementary schools in Japan found that about 74% say that English classes are not going well and that “lack of coordination with the ALT” is cited most as a specific problem. Actually, I suspect that “lack of coordination / communication” is probably a problem that many ALTs also feel.
