“In the series, children are called ‘post’ and ’locker’ for the places where they left by their mothers.” Some of my students saw the first episode and told me that they thought it was pretty awful.
The “post” “nickname” refers to the “akachan post” (baby drop-off hatch) at Jikei Hospital. The hatch was begun in an attempt to save the lives of newborns that might otherwise be abandoned. It is the only such facility in Japan that I know of at this writing. I find the idea of making a TV show that seems to affirm the stigmatization of children for having been left anonymously at Jikei Hospital repulsive.
