Though power has returned to many homes, there are still areas that do not have electricity. The interface is in Japanese but it is possible to get details, including estimates of when the power can be restored, on the Kyuden site. The situation appears to be worst in the Hitoyoshi area, particularly Itsuki and Kuma. The mountainous terrain in these areas makes them susceptible to landslides and then that same terrain makes restoration of basic utilities difficult. The Kyuden site indicates that most areas that do not have power now will have it by tonight or tomorrow. In regard to Itsuki and Kuma, however, Kyuden says that it is still assessing the damage.
