  • As of 6:00 AM this morning, the JMA has recorded 590 earthquakes of shindo 1 or higher since the Thursday night quake.

  • The government has called for continued vigilance against further possible disasters over the coming week.

  • Work has started to re-rail the shinkansen which derailed about 1.3 kilometers south of Kumamoto Station. The Transportation Ministry has announced finding damage at 130 locations on the Kyushu Shinkansen. Duration of repair work is unknown.
