This link is only tangentially related to Kumamoto in that it discusses earthquakes - and those on subductive faults like the Tohoku quake rather the strike-slip faults found here - but it is useful to understand the mechanisms and likely consequences of what will soon (in geological terms) occur on the Nankai Trough east of Kyushu, which will affect Kumamoto greatly, if indirectly.
