Discrimination is a broad topic - it may be gender-, sexual-identity- or racial-based, among others. The topic has exploded globally, not because discrimination has become more pervasive but because it has been brought out of the shadows.
Japan Today had an article on discrimination, and the comments were informative. Over my decades of living abroad, I’ve learned to recognize three personality types: xenophiles, neutral, and xenophobes. It appears that Japanese discrimination tends to be regional, with the provinces (such as Kumamoto) more accepting.
Your thoughts on this matter would be appreciated. - William
