Our friend Damien Damian (yes - that’s his real name) provided a happiness index by prefecture. As can be seen, Kumamoto is #2 behind Miyazaki, with only 29% malcontent. I suppose this might be due to their close proximity to beautiful beaches and the mercurial nature of my wife - her happiness depends on when you ask her. - William
