I love it when people here ask me for directions. They’ll approach and make an inquiry but suddenly recoil when they notice I’m a gaijin. However, I know Kumamoto like the back of my hand and am well-versed in keigo (formal Japanese), and this soothes them. They’ll probably tell their friends about this experience. - William
