Fiona here, posting after a long absence! Readers of this page may remember that I was responsible for the one-woman attempt to bring the escape room scene to Kumamoto back in 2018-19. International School of Spies has been on hiatus since Christmas so that I could focus on finishing up my latest book, an English language textbook for teens to adults. Escape the Classroom was published in April this year by Perceptia Press and is distributed by www.englishbooks.jp. For those who enjoyed the challenges and mysteries they encountered in the the escape room, this book contains a few familiar puzzles, and a lot of new ones, with 15 missions such as Enigma, Alibi, Hero and Survive. It also features a lot of problem-solving, communication and discussion activities and I’ll be piloting the book at Kumamoto University this autumn.
