Kumanichi reports that the newly renovated Hanabata park will reopen today, April 5. Aside from a general cleanup, the old, smelly public toilet has been removed. The park is a remnant of a pleasure house, shown below, built by Kato Kiyomasa and later used by the Hosokawa clan. A Wikipedia entry and the Kumanichi article with photos (Japanese) are at the link.
