Yesterday’s rain was quite intense in Ashikita and Minamata, as well as other parts of Kumamoto. This TV report shows areas where fields were inundated and some damage occurred. Usually, heavy rains don’t come this early in the year. I’m not exactly sure what records were set but the rains are being described as “record setting” (kirokuteki).
