The KKR Hotel (which has a wonderful tea room in the lobby and patio) area offers interesting perspectives of the castle with its steepest, tallest walls as well as the Kumamoto Art Museum Annex and the Traditional Arts and Crafts Museum, the latter definitely worth a visit. The entire area used to be within the castle walls.
