There has been relatively little news in English-language media about the Minamata disease issue recently. This, however, is not because of lack of new developments. The number of plaintiffs in a new lawsuit that started two years ago are growing (now over 1,000), a new lawsuit is likely to be filed in the fall, and the national government continues to refuse to adjust it’s certification criteria. I hope to be able to provide updates in the future.
