Our friend Liz Suenaga took this gorgeous photo of Iidamaru Turret from the Kumamoto City Hall location Kirk had previously introduced. I mention this as this view will soon disappear. Kumanichi reports on progress of the cantilever contraption; its assembly is complete, and from July 20, four hydraulic jacks began slowly moving the 420-ton steel frame into position. The plan is to move it 20 meters south (completed yesterday), a further 22 meters west, and then complete the envelopment of the turret.
