Joe Tomei here. A student of mine had a baito as a miko-san , which is one of the assistants at a jinja, selling hamaya during shogatsu. (trans “part-time job at a Japanese temple as a ‘shrine maiden’, selling ceremonial arrows to ward of bad luck for the New Year’s festivities”).
