An article in CNN about Japanese bamboo baskets ( http://edition.cnn.com/style/article/japanese-bamboo-art/index.html ) reminded of a gem of a little store in Oe called ＂Kougei Kikuchi" (工藝きくち - Kikuchi Artisans). The shop sells crafts of all types. Prices are quite reasonable considering the quality, and the proprietress is very friendly; she’ll proffer a cup of tea while you browse. There are also many cats which wander in and out. Highly recommended. - William
