“Kawai began offering good luck charms that consisted of pieces of the rock in small kimono cloth bags. The bags were made by elderly residents of the area. The charms have racked up sales of some ¥500,000. They have also been paired with locally grown rice as gift sets for people giving to the Mifune town government under the furusato nozei donation system for tax deductions.”
