Voter interest in elections is frequently discussed but this article is about lack of interested from politicians. Actually, I think I saw something about this on TV – jobs in prefectural assemblies and other local bodies often don’t pay enough to be attractive to people with other options. As a result, many of the positions in Kumamoto’s prefectural assembly went uncontested.
