On 5 August, one junior high school student in Tamana was confirmed to be infected. She had already preemptively been withdrawn from school before testing positive. Twelve additional cases were announced in Nagasu Town.
A man who was in his 50s living in Hitoyoshi was found dead in his home on 4 August. He had previously visited family in another prefecture. Tests later revealed that he had been infected with COVID-19.
