The summer season is all about ghost stories in Japan, and even in a pandemic some traditions are able to continue. Based on the writings of Lafcadio Hearn, Kumamoto-based writer Seán Michael Wilson has recently had a book published that presents spooky stories in manga form. Seán is the writer of over 30 graphic novels and manga, including books about Musashi, Saigo Takamori, Minamata disease, economics, the benefits of gardening…an impressive body of work! You can find our more about his books below.
If you’re a Kumamoto-based international writer, artist, photographer, cook, creative…and would like your work to be profiled on Kumamoto-i, please get in touch with me (Fiona Wall Minami) Let’s support each other through these crazy times!
