I studied Chinese before Japanese, and the difference between traditional and simplified Chinese characters make Japanese a piece of cake (it’s mostly simplified).『軽』is the traditional character for “light, while 「圣」 is the vastly move commonly used character in Japan. So some in Kumamoto when a parking lot assigned 『軽』 to indicate light cars were confused - many could not read it. So if you feel illiterate, do not feel separate from your Japanese friends.
