Near the Central Post Office is a bridge called Senba Bashi (洗馬橋) - “washing your horse bridge,” I suppose as the couriers from southern Kumamoto wouldn’t want to ride a lathered-up horse into the castle. A hundred years ago, a children’s song was written for the bridge and has become an unofficial anthem of our city. Attached are the lyrics and a video of the song.
