William TSMC, the Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer, will open a major facility in Kikuyo. This will provide hundreds of much-needed jobs for engineering graduates and likely move the economic center of Kumamoto to that area (the Hikarinomori shopping mall is already there, JR provides excellent transportation, and it is near the airport).
