I went to the beach early this month and it was beautiful, with a nice BBQ spot. And only 7 people were there the entire time. Carlton here. Earlier today Kumamoto City sent out a LINE message which included the link to a cartoon manual explaining about the Delta variant of Covid-19 and how the city and we should cope with it. It is a cute document by a Japanese doctor supposedly and about 30 pages long.
Unfortunately, because of its format, I cannot easily and quickly translate it to English.

Megan here 🙏 Wanted to share some news about the Moderna vaccine and contaminants found in a lot from Spain. Lot numbers to check include 3004667, 3004734 and 3004956. As someone who received a Moderna vaccine it gave me some relief to check.
Currently the contaminants are unknown, and the health ministry has said there have been no reports of issues. However they have pulled the doses for safety.
Also important to note, no issues have been found in Kumamoto, but it couldn’t hurt to double check your lot numbers.

They have recently launched a plan to care for dogs whose owners are hospitalized for covid at a cost of 3,300 yen per day. For some reason, cats are not welcome. Kirk here. I am one of a large number of people in Kumamoto to have had the pleasure and honor of visiting Matsunaga-sensei's smithy (kajiya; the place where he actually makes Japanese swords). When I visited, he allowed us to experience tameshigiri, using a real sword to cut through pieces of rolled up goza (the top layer of a tatami mat). I think many readers of this page know Matsunaga-sensei much better than I do. I'm only writing about him today because he came up in a conversation with my wife and that conversation led me to the following article:
