The disaster has caused a huge spike in the “reach” of this page (that is, number of people looking at posts on it). Normally, the “reach” numbers that are shown to moderators of this page are in the hundreds. At its peak, after the main quake, the number climbed to nearly 60,000.
On the one hand, I’m glad that the page has functioned as a source of information in this emergency. On the other hand, I’m looking forward to returning to being a relatively obscure little page that serves the needs of the relatively small non-Japanese community in peaceful, safe Kumamoto.
