When my kids were young, my wife would take us to Tatsudayama to collect them. They’re actually pretty tasty if you know proper preparation. Kumanichi noted that now is the season for horsetail (ツクシ, Equisetum arvense), which is neither a horse nor a tail, but when foraging, you take what you can get (except mushrooms - be careful of those). - William
