JAL has launched a discounted service between major Honshu airports and major Kyushu airports at a price of 5,400 yen per flight during the period between June 17 and October 29. The bad news for Kumamoto residents is that ticket purchases must originate overseas; however, for those with family or friends visiting (or, like me, with children who are returning home for summer vacation), the offer is worth a look.
