In my research for U.S. Notaries, I found that Harris Lawfirms in Tokyo can do U.S. Notarization almost any day of the week. You simply need to book an appointment online.
Whereas the U.S. Embassy and Consulates only offer Notary services a couple days a week or less (and require the hassle of going through security).
Here's the link to the Harris Lawfirms notary online appointment page if anyone is in need of an emergency notary.

A note from the Kumaomoto International しゃちほこ ( or 鯱, if you want to impress your friends and actually means "fish tiger") Desk (ours are quite ornate): Weblio describes shachihoko as "a fabulous dolphinlike fish, a pair of which are traditionally used to decorate the roof‐ridge of a Japanese castle." I can relate to this as I have a fabulous catlike dog to decorate my sofa. (Hint: if you get anything, make sure it's fabulous. You can imagine Kato Kiyomasa ordering the originals: "Make sure they're fabulous!")
Anyway, given that Kumamoto Castle has two tenshyukaku, four shachihoko were required, and the final fabulous guy was hoisted into position yesterday atop the smaller tower. Fabulous photos at the link. - William

Escape from Britz is also helping with the Christmas Toy Drive. 100% of proceeds from International School of Spies will be donated to the fundraiser between now and Christmas. It's a 60 minute game of detective work and puzzle-solving for teams of 2-6 players. It costs 1000 yen to play (500 yen for children and students) and is at Britz in Onoue, close to the Prefectural Office with parking and easy public transport access. It's a fun team-building challenge for friends, family or workmates. Book your game and help spread some Christmas goodwill! Go to Escape from Britz to make your reservation.

Hi friends.
You might become a big fan of rugby because of rugby world cup.Yesterday, there was rugby Championship of high school in Kumamoto. Unfortunately my kids' high school couldn't win it. (西高Nishi Kou was last year's winner)
But it was nice game.
Congratulations!! 熊工Kuma Kou!!
(BTW 西高's 高kou means 高校high school's 高high. 熊工's 工kou means 工業industry, technology, yes, their school is technological high school.😉)
Addition, the head coach, Toru Ikeda is my junior high school days good friend!! He is really nice guy.
Please support, root for them, KUMAKOU at High school rugby Championship all Japan in January!!ーAtsuko(*Ü*)

Hello friends.
Now I am at 熊日本社Kumanichi Honsha building to support my friend to join internship matching meeting.
The meeting gathers 88 companies in Kumamoto.
I don't know how many companies are welcome international students. But if they want to get jobs in Kumamoto, in Japan, I will do my best.
The matching meeting says welcome participation on the day. It starts from 13pm. Tomorrow will be held also.Almost students are local Japanese, international student is only him, another my friend was absent and today. But yes, he stands out! Almost are same means you can get good opportunity!!
I want to know their situation and environment and also the job hunting system in Kumamoto now.
If you also want to get jobs in Kumamoto, how about to join tomorrow? いいご縁(えん)がありますように。Unfortunately all the documents and the way to apply and join are Japanese.
The meeting is held by 熊日 and 熊本県. The documents explain the recommended way to communicate with company as a society, good adult. It's also interesting!
I'm not a university student but I enjoyed so much about Kumamoto company's wonderful products, technology, recommended works. Yes, it's cutting age!! I'm proud of them, their works as a Kumamoto local citizen.

Kumanichi reported on two sunset photography opportunities around the solstice, which lasts through December. One is Kumamoto Airport, where the setting sun aligns with the runway. The second is the Midorikawa estuary (which you should visit anyway - It's quite natural, not concreted in like Shirakawa), where the setting sun silhouettes a torii gate on an islet known as Tahareshima (風流島). Two examples are at the link. If you catch anything good, please share with us. - William

Hello friends.
It's said Kumamoto Parco will be closed on 29 February, 2020. Almost Kumamoto citizen know Parco. Many many people come there but go through in front of it every day.
In my youth, there were so many customers in Parco. I also went many times.Even just looking, Parco is the place we want to go.
Because of my age😅??, I haven't visited there for long time.
Sibuya Parco has renewal opened yesterday. It looks so interesting. If Kumamoto Parco can change, renew like this, I want to go, many customers might go to enjoy.
To close on that day is too much sad news.
I hope their next challenge in Kumamoto too.ーAtsuko(*Ü*)

Our friend Damien Damian (yes - that's his real name) provided a happiness index by prefecture. As can be seen, Kumamoto is #2 behind Miyazaki, with only 29% malcontent. I suppose this might be due to their close proximity to beautiful beaches and the mercurial nature of my wife - her happiness depends on when you ask her. - William

My home straddles a fault, one side rising relative to the other. Scientificly, observations are interesting; in real life, it can be annoying.
Example: We have one of those old-fashioned genkan doors, two sliding parallel with the lock in the middle. Recently, the north door has become wedged in a position which prevents it unable to match with its southern counterpart, rendering the lock useless. It's not a big deal in the short term - we live in a safe neighbourhood and have nothing worth stealing - but I suspected a mechanism and figured it out.
Southern Japan is particularly susceptible to a phenomenon known as "slow earthquake", in which the earth shifts with no percptible feeling. Quite an interesting phenomenon, you can read more about it here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slow_earthquake
Meanwhile, I've got to figure out what the hell to do about my door. - William

Olivia here,
Our friend, Anett Iwamoto shared this flyer at her timefeed, so I am re-sharing it here.
There is Prison Fair at Grand Messe this weekend, November 23rd and 24th.
I have never been to prison fair before, I wonder what kind of items will be displayed there. It might be an interesting exhibition.

Hi friends.
It's not a story about Kumamoto but a story about international problem, international project.
I have joined おにぎりアクション for more than 1month, it has started since 17 October. Tomorrow is the last day of its campaign!
If you post on the webpage, Table For Two, Onigiri action 2019, or you post on your facebook or Instagram with #Onigiriaction , the sponsors, supporters donate 100yen/ one post. =5 kids meals / one post. They give donated meals for developing countries's kids.
I've posted 100 pictures👍🤩 It means I donate 10000yen for them, I made 500 kids' meals.
How do you think? Sounds wonderful!!?
For me, it's the 4th year to join it.
They want to gather 300,000pictures. It means 30,000,000yen, 1,500,000kids' meals. Now around260,000pictures.
You just take a picture with ONIGIRI. Just only ONIGIRI is also OK. If you don't have any ONIGIRI, you can join with air ONIGIRI, just making triangle shape with your hand.

Hi cat lovers.
l'm also a cat lover. They are so cute and lovely. She is my family, my daughter.
There are a lot of dogs and cats being euthanized in Japan.
I think it's big problems some are killed, some are sold as products.
I know we have limit to have them as family, and the society should be safe and clean for all, every, each citizen.
I would like to introduce a good work for both of local cats and citizen,
Ryunosuke animal hospital does TNR works. They gather local cats and do contraceptive surgery and release them. They also make a sign to be known the cats had contraceptive surgery, the cats don't make any more kittens, they want to live peacefully. The sign is called '' さくらみみ, charry blossom's shape ear''. They call the cats ''あいされネコちゃん being loved cats'' Because some good person caught the cat and gave her surgery, and released the cat to be able live freely, not to be killed in future. Yes, the cats are loved.
TNR means T is Trap/捕獲 N is Neuter/不妊去勢手術 R is Return/元のところに戻す.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF SPIES, currently the only escape room in Kumamoto is entering its final month. If you'd like a chance to test your detective skills, teamwork and ability to solve puzzles and break codes under pressure...make sure you get your team together and book your game. Escape from Britz is located in Onoue, Higashi-ku (close to the Prefectural Office) and is open on weekends in November and December. Weekday games are also possible, message for times. The game is best played with a team of 2-6 players and costs 1000 yen each/500 yen for children and students.
