Due to damage at the largest produce distribution center located in Uto City, the auctioning of spring Kumamoto produce for national sale may be cancelled. Already, 90 tons of produce have been scrapped due to spoilage. JA and other related groups are scrambling to find alternative venues. The peak for sale of spring produce is April through mid May.

Kumamoto City has set up a consultation line for guardians of children possibly traumatized by the quake. 096-381-4451, Monday through Friday, 8:30-20:00. Likely Japanese only, but not stated.

The Kumamoto Keirin (bicycle racing) Center has cancelled next month’s events due to damage. Many elderly men will be saddened.
