I think this short video, from the New York Times, about the situation in Kumamoto is well done but one part is misleading. It shows the collapse of the Oaso Bridge in 2016 and then implies that lessons learned from that tragedy led to improvements that helped prevent the complete collapse of the Myoken No. 1 Bridge in Yatsushiro. However, the Yatsushiro bridge was built long before 2016. I'm planning to write about that in another post. -- Kirk
